The Woods Foundation

Our pro bono initiative with the Woods Foundation is still going strong! We have 30 students on three teams working on:

  1.  Active cases where students are working with the WF to investigate live cases where there is a compelling innocence claim or unduly harsh sentencing.

  2.  Post-mortem project, originally founded by Clive Stafford Smith, the team are researching death penalty cases where the prisoner has already been executed, to prove their actual or legal innocence.

  3. Policy research where the team researches alternative legislative options and death penalty policy, for example, they are interrogating the use of non-unanimous juries and Alabama’s 1979 Habitual Felony Offender Act.

It Takes a City

We are so excited to have selected our new It Takes a City taskforce. This team of students will be spending the term supporting It Takes a City with fundraising and administrative support.

CUHRLS is also collaborating with Embrace Cambridge to put on a panel event in February alongside It Takes a City. This will deal with Socio Economic and Housing Rights in Cambridge.
